The origin of J. Plácido e Associados – Advogados, SP RL dates to 1988, when Dr. José Plácido Santos left Coimbra, and came to in Lagoa, in the Algarve, where, in 1993, he set up his own independent office, JPS Lawyers Office, having the opportunity to meet and conquer the foreign investment market, especially for British Clients.

Committed at all times to providing a service of excellence, that firm significantly expanded both the volume of its work and the international diversity of its clients, and gradually incorporated associate lawyers and broadened its practice areas, serving an increasingly diverse and multinational clientele. In 2001, following the partnership with Dr. Joaquim Martins Cabrita and Dr. Rosemary Alves Correia, JPS Lawyers Office was refounded as ‘J. Plácido Santos & Associados – Advogados’, built upon the solid technical expertise, prestige, reputation for quality and reliability of its three partners at the time, as well as the strong professional relationship between them, which lasted until 2011, when Dr. Rosemary left and the company was restructured.

Unfortunately, in 2017, the premature and unexpected death of Dr. Plácido forced a new restructuring of our law firm that, integrating the associated lawyers, is now composed by four partners – Dr. Joaquim Martins Cabrita, Dra. Marta Gaivão Plácido, Dr. Luís Vieira Dias, and Dr. Cesário Belém – with the current structure of lawyers – partners and associates – trainee lawyers and a qualified secretariat, as usual.

J. Plácido Santos & Associados – Advogados was created since the beginning and maintains as its motto “We do not promise what we do not know we can achieve, but, if we promise, we do it”, and due to hard work and total dedication of all team, the image of our law firm has always been associated to honesty, dedication, competence, and responsibility, in exchange for fees, due fair thereof.

Since the very beginning, a J. Plácido Santos & Associados – Advogados dared to conquer a market different from usual, being able to make a position of exquisite in the national and international market, therefore we keep having as our main goal the continuous evolution, the scrupulous fulfilment of our obligations and the prestige due to that, together with the incessant search for success and full satisfaction of our Clients.
