The origins of “J. Plácido e Associados – Law Firm” dates back to 1988 when Dr. José Plácido Santos left his home town of Coimbra and made his way south to settle in the town of Lagoa, Algarve.

The law firm and its partners have been bold enough to master a market different from the norm, and with the vicissitudes of these projects they were capable of growing the company and made a mark of quality in both the national and international markets. O Regime jurídico previsto na Lei 32/2012, de 14 de Agosto veio introduzir a possibilidade de transição dos contratos antigos (os arrendamentos para habitação anteriores ao DL 321-B/90, de 15 de Outubro  e os não habitacionais anteriores ao DL 257/95, de 30 de Setembro) para o Regime Jurídico do NRAU - Novo Regime do Arrendamento Urbano, regulado pela Lei Lei 6/2006, de 27de Fevereiro,  agora alterada pela Lei 32/2012.

As published and advertised by the Portuguese government, a special legal regime has been created, designated “ARI – Golden Residence Permit for Investment Activity”.
This is a status applied to non-Europeans and opens the possibility of applying for a residence permit when pursuing investment activities by transferring capital (minimum €1,000,000.00), creating at least 10 jobs or acquiring real estate (one or several properties) to a minimum value of €500,000.00.
